There is no way the customer support or the person visiting you is going to accept the speed is slow. At least temporarily they will show speeds of .5mbps and go away. This is the standard answer I get every time

Crappy product from TATA. Speeds are pathetic, if you want to download, you will see download speeds of 10kbps with Max Wifi where they CLAIM UPTO 6mbps. Right now I have a download running at 7.4 KBPS(yes, it is KBPS - it is not a typo).

Update based on my 3 months usage of P1i - most of these are crib points!
1. I am grossly missing two keys on this phone - the green talk key and the red off key. I am finding it increasing difficult to tap the screen accurately for picking up calls and for disconnecting, especially when I am dri...ving
2. One more point on the usability - when you are receiving a call, to turn on the speaker you will have to select More, select Speaker On and then tap or click using Jog dial. All this to turn Speaker On while on a call? It was just a push of a key in my old phone!
3. The handsfree supplied with the phone has a very strange design - the wire gets tangled so much that you will not be able to plug it quickly into the phone and to your ear
4. The volume while on speaker phone is on the lower side and cant hear when in noisy environments
5. The predictive text really helps, especially while composing SMS. I dont know how it works but it brings up words that I have used in previous messages
6. The camera button - it really sucks! When you press this button you never know , sometimes it takes a snap, sometimes it does not.
Otherwise, the battery problem that I have mentioned in my original review has not recured. So overall a good phone but I am still wondering why SE is not taking care of seemingly trivial issues to make this a great phone.Read More

Yes, absolutely, you are right. 'High end' models with digital photos, wanting to work with 'Karan' would not know about Tata Indicom!

Thanks for the comments. Yes, did seriously consider Mac. But in India it is not all that easy to get the required software and also it is difficult to be 'compatible' with the larger world using Windows. The patches downloaded are not necessarily for spyware protection. If I disable the autodownloa...d feature, MS has led me to believe that Windows will be even more unstable! For the kind of company that MS is and for the kind of people it has, it sure can produce far better products is my view.Read More
