Just when you thought that the year 2002 would go down as a completely barren year for Hindi Film music, comes AR Rehman’s latest flick “Saathiya” with nine super-tracks. Saathiya is without any doubt the best film/indipop album of this year, a year that has nothing to show for...Read more

Welcome back! Good review, but I disagree with most of what you have said. I hate to say this, but the truth is that US is the most dangerous place to be on earth today, not because of the terrorists, but because of your government. The sniper attacks are being done by your goverment to bring gun-c...ontrol legislation. Go to http://infowars.com/northwoods.htm. Also go to to http://www.247news.net/2002/20021004-mdshootings.shtml to understand the shocking reason why these attacks are being done. Belive me, USA is in deep, deep sh*t. Your politicians have completely sold out and the top brass of your judiciary, CIA, FBI, etc have been infiltrated - go to http://www.propagandamatrix.com/makow_illuminati_defector_details_pervasive_conspiracy.html. You can choose to disbelieve it as most americans do, or wake up and try to spread the word. SunilRead More

Hi Prem, good review, although I don't think i will want to watch a tanuja chandra movie. Somehow all her movies fail to deliver. Maddy - trust a professional musician to be obsessed only with sur! Maddy, singing is not just about the being on-key all the time. Kumar Sanu hits all the right note...s, but can you tolerate his singing? I can't. On the other hand Amitabh Bachchan is the biggest besura, but I prefer to listen to his version of Silsila's 'Neela asmaan' than that of Lata's. Lata is perfect, too boringly perfect with little variety. On the other hand, lucky ali's sings from the heart, his voice has a certain magical quality that makes even ordinary songs special and that is more important than singing in right manner...SunilRead More

Thanks Abhi, some people are so thick, maybe I need to put explanation notes - 'don't take it seriously, this is a satire on the interview proces' But that would be so silly, destroys the purpose of humor, if u have to explain it. Cheers Sunil

Prem - I'm not in the race anymore (and hope I never have too). So, I can afford to advocate such radical behavior. heh heh JDI - Okay, Sri - Stop being so sarcastic! I never pretended that I am talking reality here. Reality sucks. let me dream, someday it might come true. What makes me sad is t...he NR's that I get for good dreams. Isn't that a bad sign? A society that stops dreaming is doomed. About Shilpa, I may have misunderstood - but I won't remove what I've written. There is a message for her, but I doubt if she will understand. She doesn't understand anything I write. About horses and asses - If I would have said - asses are lesser horses than horses, she wouldn't have understood. I've to talk in people's languages and in people's language - asses mean stupid not horses. Ok they are two different animals. I wasn't comparing - but making a point that sometimes (actually. most of the times) our perceptions about a lot of things are wrong and I was explaining how. SunilRead More

Great one, Anu. This book sounds interesting. I didn't know that stuffy ol' Shashi can write satire. Atleast he never gave any indication in the boring columns he used to write for Indian Express. I agree with spooks - good books (and reviews) are those that upset and provoke people into changin...g their mindset. How about writing some provocative reviews? Atleast write more, you are too good a writer to be hibernating for such long periods :) Sunil PS: From gandhi to sachin as dieties - we sure have come a long way!Read More

Lyla - Points? I've rejected bigger things! Shilpa dear, horses are bigger asses than real asses. They look beautiful, allow themselves to be whipped and made to run like hell, so that f***** jockeys and gamblers could make money. Donkeys - they look ugly, carry lighter loads, make funny sounds, ...and get away lightly. So whose smarter? And what kind of a.s.s are you? Ruchi - Read my comment below. DQ - It could happen, if we all do it together. They take advantage of our desperation, but if we don't play their game, the situation can reverse the way I have described. SunilRead More

What makes you think that ideas and progressive thinking is not being stifled? maybe it's not done in an obvious totalitarian, orwellion manner, but in a more subtle manner by dumbing down the people, by distracting them. Does the media or anybody talk about what fascinates you - the illuminati. No..., the 60th birthday of amitabh bachchan is what occupies them. This is not stagnation, it is even worse, regression. Ashish, the world has been so dumbed down, that it cannot distinguish between reality and propoganda and this is how it is always going to be, unless people thwow out the fictional notion of imposed order, which is not neccassary for a race of intelligent species as humans are. I know what I am saying appears muddled and confusing and even contradictory at places, but if reality was without paradoxes and dictohomies, it wouldn't be worth living, would it? SunilRead More

Amith - thanks, yes there are other incredible phenomena that is going on, then there are crop circles also, and earth changes, but people refuse to look beyond their nose and change their programming. A lot of this debating would become irrelevent if only people were to understand the bigger reali...ties. Anu - The way I have presented the second part doesn't say what I really mean to say. No, I don't believe that every human should be or can be super-kind and compassinate. That would be boring, stupid and stagnating. A world full of saints would be a bigger nightmare than than a world full of evil. The selfishness that we see today is not real selfishness, it is stupid selfishness that comes out of our insecurities and fear. Real selfishness is the selfishness of a child upto 10-12 years age who lies, manipulates, indulges in destructive activities without care, simply to satisfy his ego, individuality etc. I don't mind this kind of selfishness even if it brings a little bit of trouble. The ordered world is world where people are selfish out of helplesness, for the sake of survival. It is out of balance where a few people are powerful enough to indulge in unbelievable evil, while the rest are just like sheeps or puppets who act good out of fear, indulge in bad for survival. Anu, the reality is exact opposite of what you are saying - people may not be fighting each other, but they feel stifled and helpless. A world without order would be a world of balance of good and evil, where everyone would be free to play out their inner goodness or wickedness, instead of being stifled by a supreme, invisible enemy called the establishment or order (or illuminati ;)) Read More

Nice review, (it's almost as if I'm reading my own), but you should have concentrated a little more on the plot to make the correlation between the movie and your views on what it meant to say, more clear. I had avoided seeing it 'coz of the excessive violence, but after reading this, I'll have to g...ive it a second chance. Spooks> Anarchy is good, you know how the suburbs of Bombay are or like chandni chowk. It's vibrant and free, it is chaos - but it's our chaos, people's chaos and I think its preferable to the ordered perferction of say, London or Sydney. :) SunilRead More

Maddy - The point I am trying to make is that this movie was made to make the audience accept the idea that preemptive attack against your enemy, without any evidence, is acceptable. This idea is completely against the present justice system, but US is trying to make the world accept it, as one sees... in case of Iraq. I accept the charge that I am repititive, but than this is my area of specialisazion, my USP, otherwise I am a very bad writer and my reviews would not be readable. JDI - About the movie - I haven't seen it. I'm only concentrating on the intent that went behind the making of the movie. But I strongly disagree that this issue (should a person be punished for a crime not yet commited) could be debated. An evolved society should try to address the issue of crime by trying to remove the root causes of crime, and if we accept the idea of punishing people for crimes they have yet to commit, then we are moving backwards. Abhi - a microchiped world is what they are trying to create. I dont support or like this bleak scenario But its a fact, all the peopl at top are pawns even a respected leader like Mandela. Hasn't icke proved it conclusively? Romakhtar - My review is actually quite short, half of it I have directly copied & pasted from http://www.steamshovelpress.com. Amith - An ashram of non-confirmists. No way! - organisations are the root of all confirmism. I am for destruction of all institutions, - an anarchist. SunilRead More
