I can understand your anguish and frustration at being denied the free DTH connections that were promised to you at the time of purchase. But does that justify your adverse ratings on the TV's technical parameters like picture quality and sound reception? I feel we all need to be dispassionate while... writing a review so that users of the reviews are not misguided.Read More

I recently purchased a EeePC 1000HA/XP from Lamington Road, Bombay, India. Prior to taking the buy decision, I visited several dealers and studied brochures for different netbooks. Printed brochures for Asus EeePC models were given to me by two different dealers. According to all the brochures, ...Read more

Dear arun.sidhes, 1. I too felt that there is a slight visibility problem while turning right. 2. I have used plain (non-premium) diesel in my car so far. I think plain diesel from all oil marketing companies is virtually identical. Will check out premium diesel in future. The diesel Swift Ow...ner's Manual talks about Cetane Number and Sulphur content of the recommended fuel but I really have no idea how these parameters differ between plain and 'premium' diesel in India. Can somebody clarify from Maruti Udyog which type of diesel they recommend? DebashisRead More

Dear Bahutas, Don't scare me! Are you saying that Mobil Delvac Super 1300 is unsuitable for diesel Swift? Debashis

Dear CRPP, 1. Clutch, gear shift, etc. are very smooth requiring hardly any effort in the diesel Swift. 2. Though the petrol's max power is 12 bhp more, its 87 horses come at a high 6000 rpm; the diesel gives 75 horses at 4000 rpm only. I'm sure the petrol version's power at 4000 rpm would be mu...ch less than 75. And when it comes to torque, the diesel wins hands down -- 190 Nm at just 2000 rpm as compared to a measly 113 Nm at a high 4500 rpm for the petrol version. Obviously, the diesel Swift feels peppier in day-to-day normal use. 3. I'm a car lover and I always drive myself. I opted for diesel and am very happy. You should personally test drive both versions and decide. 4. Diesel Swift is approx 15-20% noisier than petrol Swift or Santro / Wagon-R at idling and low speeds. As the speed increases, the difference rapidly reduces. There is no perceptible (at least inside the car, even with windows open) difference in noise level between diesel and petrol Swift above 50 kmph or so. I must caution everyone with a diesel Swift that some Maruti workshops are not yet conversant with its maintenance. Especially, one has to personally ensure that they are using the right engine oil. I took my Swift VDi to Karlo Automobiles, Bodhgaya for First Service on 29.10.07. I was horrified ...to find that they knew virtually NOTHING about the Swift diesel and its maintenance. They drained my engine oil and were about to pour new oil meant for petrol engines (MGP engine oil for Maruti 800) into my engine when I intervened and prevented them from pouring that oil in my engine. Thereafter, they brought a can of Indian Oil Servo Pride 40. I pointed out to them that Maruti Udyog specifies SF 15W40 oil meeting specs of API-CG4 and ACEA B3 for the Swift. That sounded like Greek and Latin to them. They informed me that they had put Servo Pride 40 engine oil in several diesel Swifts and they were working fine ! God help diesel Swift owners in India. I made Karlo Automobiles pour my drained oil back into my engine (after straining through a clean cloth) and I drove out of Karlo Automobiles without my First Service. Incidentally, Karlo Automobiles were also about to remove my oil filter for replacement when I informed them that it is not supposed to be replaced during First Service. My bitter experience at Karlo Automobiles at Bodhgaya has shaken my faith in Maruti Service. If I hadn't been physically present during the service, they would have put oil in my engine which is totally unsuitable. The fact that they are putting such oil in 'several diesel Swifts' (as told to me by their works manager) calls for an urgent investigation by Maruti Udyog. It appears that Maruti Udyog is introducing high tech cars in India without first upgrading its service infrastructure and training its service personnel.Read More

As far as the Swift Vdi is concerned, there is no doubt that it is a good car. But what was your experience with PEBCO Motors at Jamshedpur? I have a Maruti Esteem now which I bought in Kolkata but took it for service a few times to PEBCO, Jamshedpur after relocating to Jamshedpur a year ago. My exp...erience with PEBCO service was satisfactory. But my experience with PEBCO sales / marketing has been horrible ever since I booked a Swift Vdi. When I went to PEBCO to check out and test drive the car, they were all sugar and honey but after I paid up and booked the car, their behaviour took a 180 degree turn! How was your experience?Read More
