Very recently me and my best friend were busy in our respective plates of Paav Bhaaji when I saw the familiar site of a guy (let me address him as uncle from now on) aged about 45...selling very very basic toys (the ones priced between 10-30 rupees).
Everytime I see him I ask myself how can someone make a living in Mumbai by selling these toys, and seeing the fact that he never has a customer to himself, I pondered more and more...
Suddenly I saw a small kid kicking the ground, shouting and asking his father (who was busy on his mobile phone!) to buy a toy from the uncle...I was ecstatic! Kid's father wasn't very interested even when the kid insisted by intensifying his kicks to the ground and a high decibel shout...
As his father got into his expensive SUV, he tried to pull the kid inside...but the kid wont budge..thats when his father asked the uncle (who sells toys) to help him...the uncle cajoled the kid by telling him "Go for a around the road, papa will get you here again in 5 minutes"
As Uncle said these words, I could see a sense of sadness in his eyes... It broke my heart...
The kid zoomed away with his father...whereas uncle smiled and continued his efforts to persuade other people to buy from him...
Not all are born with good business mind isnt it?
Peace and equanimity to all.
