THANK YOU DAD!!!!! for if not for you, I would not be what I am today. I don’t need a Father’s Day to thank you because today I feel I should be thanking you every day and every moment.

I never knew what a thankless task being a Father was unless I became one on 30th August 2004 and that too of a Baby boy. God has his unique way of making us realize things. He made me by gifting me a son.

I read in a post the other day “Dad knew only one way to teach me lessons, which I could not remember for long ......”. These words have been pinching me ever since I read them. Yes! The day I became a Dad, I realized Dads have a different way of teaching lessons. Maybe someday my son will also say this and not write a poem for me. I wrote one for my Mother but never for my Dad assuming that he would never feel it, but the other day when I saw tears in his eyes I knew I was wrong. I complained that He never understood me as a Son but actually I never understood him as a Father.

Dad, From the very first toy, to the cell, to the bike and all that I wanted I never gave you time so that you could give me time and still I complained. But if not for you Dad would I be what I am today? Even animals have fathers but they can never say thanks and I am fortunate that I am not one and God has given me a chance. All I can say Dad is:

You gave me a Hand,
and taught me to stand

When life became still,
you gave me a will

You told me what’s right, 
 you gave me the strength to fight

For all that you told,
today I am bold

From the smallest things,
my ambitions you gave wings

You picked me from every fall,
and made me stand tall

You gave me the shoulder to rest,
stood by me in every test

In return all I can say,
Is “THANK YOU DAD” today and always
