Nostalgically Pooranee Baat
I was around 12 years of age that I managed to do havocs and bring nightmares in life of some of the people around me. I can say that I had a real mischievous childhood.
It was one of those summer vacations that we (I + 12/13 cousins) gathered in Rajahmundry (Andhra Pradesh) and made a mischief of a life time. It was a sad incident though, since we had lost one of our family members from my maternal side. All the family members had gathered over there for the annual rites. As children we were’t serious about the incident and thought it as a family get together and were making fun and masti all the day long.
I remember the night we arrived there and all were quite talking about the Pooja to be conducted next morning. But, Ajay (One of my Mama’s son and now an IIT Engineer) fired up the Diwali crackers just in the veranda of the same house!!! His father (My Mama) came running down to scold him about this mischief. But even after a hefty scolding he kept laughing later on saying that it was a fun doing that firing. We all were laughing with keeping hands on our mouth like Mouth Shut!
There was some more to come the next morning. The house was in a small lane with a closed neighborhood and we (All Kids) were strolling on the roads just for time pass. I got some brilliant idea to remove air of the sidelined Bicycles and have fun out of it. There were plenty of cycles in the lane,we were so many in numbers to just freak out! So the ratio was more than 1:1 or may be 1:3
I planned how to remove the air from the cycles and also the order in which each kid is going to do assigned task. Ajay supported me and we were the rulers of all those innocent kids who were about to do this under our influence.
One by one the kid used to remove the air valve from the tyre and a big noise BHUP! We used to run from the place (As planned). But later on after discussions with Ajay we both decided to not to remove the whole air in a shot but just to loose the valve enough to allow the air to pass away and to enjoy the fun just sitting nearby. I remember that I removed valves of nearby 4 cycles and Ajay did an equal number of cases.
Now we had around 13 – 14 valves of the cycles assembled with my elder sister. We decided to put all these valves to some good use. The house we were staying in used to have a deep active well. We threw all the valves in the well and kept strolling in the house laughing for the whole day! It was a great satisfaction for our young budding commanders who have achieved such a milestone. I and Ajay laughed till the last vein of our stomachs.
However, this incident took a nasty turn when in the evening we all were playing and an Uncle from the nearby home got hold of Ajay and told him that his son has seen him removing valves from the cycles. He advised Ajay that he should get it back to him at any cost. The cycle concerned was a Pakistan made and the valves were not easily available in the market. Ajay convinced the person that he has the valve with him and after the play is finished he shall get it back to him. Uncle succumb to Ajay’s innocence (Big mistake!) since he was not knowing that Ajay and all of us were about to leave for Vishakhapatnam in the next 1 hour!
We all were laughing like hell and flew to Vizag with these memories of innocent childhood.
Today I realize that it was a big mistake that we were doing and it should not have been done. But even today I just keep remembering those sweet memories of childhood. I tease Ajay a lot over that and even he reciprocates.
Nothing can get us those days .... just nothing.
I am open for comments and criticisms on this diary post and waiting for some nostalgic moments of my MS readers.
Cheers!!!
