Your advice to them is pretty good, but will these ppl ever learn. Nah! I dont think so, youll still get 20 songs-3 birthday parties-4 marriages and 1 big funeral with lots of sacrifices thrown in between the story. Well documented facts on Yash ji, though :)

Hiii..How are u??>...Yash Chopra must say is a really good director..But he doesnt try doin some diff movies..His movies contain the same story line..But its always a pleasure to watch this movies..He must be appreciated coz very few people master the art of tempting people to watch the same kind of movie baar baar...He sure is a brilliant director as even Im one of those people who are lured into watching his movies however they might be.... Excellent revu once again.... take care.......   ; BYE   ; Pranavi

i have always maintained that he is a formula director who does what sells and doesnt tread the path less taken..and whose complaining..people are watching the same crap again and again and he is raking in the moolahs...everyone is happy...perfection and innovation be damned..!! if u watch any of his movies..maybe with the exception of a lamhe or a silsila...all his movies follow the same concept..same plot..same song sequences...i mean yashji thoda to naya kuch banaiye.. cheers for a cool revu though.. mayank

Yash chopra is one who loves to make everyone laugh and cry and enjoy along with his characters and he manages to do that everytime he makes a film.. Its true that nothing about his film changes, but, who wants to try different stuff and take risks? The time tested formula always works. And, so long as we support them, this tribe is going to flourish and prosper........... Love and regards, Swapna.

Manoj is jumping up & down on the sofa, with a lollipop in mouth and clapping hands wildly. Grandma is puzzled and comes over Gm: Manoj, stop ruining my expensive cushions and get down now Manoj: Oh grandma, youre not going to believe it. Somebody called me Prince Charming of Comments Gm: Pee Charming of what?!! Manoj (looking up & sighing): PRINCE CHARMING OF COMMENTS, grandma. PRINCE CHARMING!!! Gm: Ok, ok. you dont have to shout at me. how rude todays boys can get. Who called u like that? Manoj: afrank Gm: frank? Manoj: No, AFRANK! Her real name is Sujata Gm: Suhag raath?!! WHAT the hell are u saying? Manoj: My God, Grandma. I said Sujata, SUJATA, S-U-J-A-T-A!!! Grandma (falling to the floor & on verge of collapse): Krishna, Rama, what am I hearing? What is this world coming to? My only grandson befriends a foreign fellow Frank who calls my son Prince Charming and is inviting him for suhag raath!!! Oh GOD!!! What bad karma did my grandson do 2 be in such a relationship? Tell me the truth, ici waqth! r both of u engaged and for how long? THUD!!! Manoj faints :D hey, u can call me anything under the sun and I wont mind. But pls dont call me king. Thanks so much and btw, its a lovely review. The only movies I saw from start 2 end of his is Dil to Pagal Hai and VZ, and I simply enjoyed both of them. I dont really mind if he keeps churning out only love tales but he does it with a difference and lotsa magic. Let him continue to mesmerise us with whatever he does. Regards Manoj

He is master at portraying love stories and the current breed has a lot to learn from the veteran, definitely. Here are some thoughts... Yashji has touched the subjects of poverty and unemployment! Deewar, Trishul and Saheb did touch those subjects. If a love story, Yashji can create a masterpiece even with a relatively shoddy script (VZ). If not a love story, he will mess up without a strong script (Vijay and Parampara). He has great sense of music, all his films have had excellent music. Your review rocks, Munir

Yes, Yash Chopras brand of films have inspired many a candy-floss movies of the recent times. Karan, Sooraj and Yashs son Aditya Chopra are the perpetrators of this crime (allow me to say so lol). But one aspect of Yash Chopras is completely forgotten... remember Trishul, Deewar? and Paramapara was good too, although it didnt make it big on the box office. Cheers, Anuj

Love has changed several times since Adam and Eve. But the underlying emotion still remains the same. Yash is a master craftsman, a great storyteller, a perfectionist. His presentatiions are magnificient in scale, yet not extravagant. His movies have that dream like quality, that Bohemian spirit, what Life was supposed to be. Till our greed messed it all up. He is one guy who has eye on beauty, who can present a rolling field of tulips as a work of art. He reminds me of great Flemish painters like Peter Paul Rubens, who showed life in all its magnificient splendour. Among the current crop, and after Raj Kapoor, Yash is a true worshipper of beauty. Unlike some others he doesnt flash skin just for sensual gratification. Yash is a true inheritor of the great legacy left by Raj Your review does full justice to this great doyen of Indian cinema.

Good review - I have always hated people like Johar/Barjatya being branded with Yash Chopra. Yes, their films (at least Johars) look like YC movies, but he still hasnt proved himself to be 1/1000th of what Chopra is. And YC is not all mush - Lamhe, Silsila, Parampara, Vijay, Trishul, Deewar ... he IS in my opinion, a very versatile director. Even among his last 4 flicks, only DTPH and V-Z are regular love stories. Darr and Lamhe were so different ... Yes, his films nowadays may not be as offbeat as an RGV flick. But, being different does not always mean being good :-D I still found Dil To Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara disappointing though. Both are entertaining alright, but the spark of a Lamhe, or the magic of his sons DDLJ, were missing. - Raj.

A wonderfully narrated review. you seem to love the movies of YC and hence a keen observer. The analysis that you have done and explanation is very good..has been written excellently. In the past two reviews you seem to have taken the data points route... instead of your usual personal flavour. any reason ? cheers Ramesh

hi sujata, terrific review on arguably one of the most prolific living directors today. But YC has 2 avatars, the one before Lamhe and the one after Lamhe. The one before Lamhe, he took many risks and now he seems to put it in cruise control and hand the keys to the 3rd member of the Copycat Trimurti, his son ADitya Chopra. I liked the 7 key facets of his film-making. He should take more risks. but hey hes earned it and can make any film he wants, what say? anyways, mukund

Leave apart everything about yash chopra, he always made his actresses look like divine beauties... I always wondered how Juhi Chawla could look so glamorous... This man was watching the Darr with a shocked feeling to see a superb juhi chawla... U have described it rightly a midas touch ! But unfortunately Jaya Bhaduri looked indifferent inspite of Yash touch...or may be she was meant to look like it... cheers ! Aditya PS : Yash Chopra was the person to introduce Sonam aka oyeoye girl...some wrong choices there from him ...

Sujatadi, Its a bright sunny morning and as soon as Ive read the topic,it has become brighter! Yah,Yash Chopra takes us to the land of fantacy where everyone is happy...and no worries regarding the social problems like unemployment etc.His films are truely entertaining though I like Karan Johar also as he works with SRK most of the time. The best ever movie of Yashji is Silsila according to me.I simply love that. The review has taken me into the world of Yashraj films once again........ Thanks, :) Paromita.

Great style and valid points. When I first read the topic Yash Chopra, it reminded me of the troublemaker id who was frequenting this site until recently :-) Anyways, Yashji is certainly a classy director. Some of old films like Daag, Trishul etc are superb. But since the 90s, he has become quite monotonous with just romantic films shot abroad etc. He should experiment with different subjects and styles. ~King~

Excellent review on one of the better film-directors of present days!! Yash Chopra is mostly associated with mushy but sensible love-stories but if you watch his earlier films, youll be surprised by his range. He given us movies like Daag,Trishul,Deewar,Mashal and the unforgettable Ittefaq. The music in most of his movies is great too---like you wrote.
