Initially I had planned to join NIIT too ( a long time back) but never did. I had heard a lot about the inside going ons and stopped many of my friends from joining it. Some of my friends who did are like you now, complaining all the way and they in turn are stopping people too.

Looks like NIIT is building a wide network of anti-NIITians !!!

i joined niit but not by my wish... my mother forced me to! not only NIIT is there in the list... there are many other coaching classes in which i was put throughout my SSC and HSC exams which was just a mere waste of money by parents and MY TIME of course... but i enjoyed them... bunked all... cos the teachers never taught what was to be taught !!

cheers,

I hope you are now at a better school.

You could even take distant classes from a lot of places all over the world.

Lol spacejunk.... i’ve taken up the GNIIT course too here in thane.... and NIIT sure is one ball of confusion.
Apart from the experiences u’ve had ( i’ve had them too :) ) , i keep getting calls from their accounts section for fees even though i’ve paid that months fees on time. LOL
The standard of teaching is pathetic.... really PATHETIC ( in my thane-1 branch). We’re taught 2 - 3 chapters in C++ inside 90 mins. And the faculty hardly ever are able to even comprehend our doubts. Its the same standard reply... ’’ Aap sirf book mein diya hain utna padhe, itna detail mein jaakar aap confuse ho jayenge’’ LOL
Non-NIITians should really see the books these guys print and give us....c++ is entirely theory for these guys..... come on.... what wud u do in a real world environment by knowing the theory of C++ inside out?? nobody in my batch has any idea how to code.... we just mug up the theory... give the stupid exams and gleefully run home thinkin we’re gonna be software programmers one day.
The teacher we have never ever starts the lecture on time. The practise sessions dubbed ’’MR’’ hardly ever have the servers workin..so we pass time surfing....
I sound like a ranting-pig-gone-wild... but thats the true face of NIIT. I’m not gonna give up though cos i’ve paid fees from march, so i’ll complete the GNIIT course not because but ’’INSPITE’’ of NIIT.
Flash: Funny one liner ahead....
Life begins at NIIT.....And your career ends there too!
Moral of the story : If u’ve already fallen for it.... SUCKA... LOL... now complete the remainder of the course atleast for the degree! Buy books of well known authors and study on your own.

am not interested in earning the GNIIT degree when I don’t know what I’ve learnt! I am more familiar with other technologies better than what they taught!
I learnt coding java scripts on own!! but i don’t know c++ properly!! though i passed that exam with 72% marks...
those online exams! phew... i don’t know that C++ questions had 4 options !! to select from and answer... is that what is called LOGIC PROGRAMING

The most important lesson to be learnt for all of us here:

’’Be Realistic and Practical’’

If you end up paying a few thousand rupees for a computer course (along with others), do you really expect to have quality teaching given to YOU???

Let us get this straight: Even a decent programmer would rather prefer to work for a software company that pays him atleast 10-12 k bucks.

Why should a good experienced software person come to NIIT and work for a few thousand bucks???

Didn’t NIIT promise you the VERY BEST IN TEACHING??

Then why didn’t you ask them this logical question?

If you were a software professional in C, C++ - would try to work for software company that pays you 12 k + or would you rather stick at the dull NIIT room at some shopping center for 2-3 hrs a day for a 4-5 K bucks pm???

Anyways, it’s nice to see people realize that NIIT, APtech and all other computer courses in India have a serious business flaw - ’’of thinking to run affiliated insitutes with a hope that good teachers will be hired for 4-5 k bucks!’’

Regards

okay...here’s my comments on this article by spacejunk. Only those who feel NIIT does try to do its best need continue reading..the rest...you’re just complainers! Oh by the way, I am in no way affiliated to NIIT or do I have a share in the company. All I have to say is that I did study at NIIT, I did teach at NIIT and I did manage a NIIT center. Right now I am abroad.
What spacejunk went through is not a new situation. It happens everywhere...be it NIIT or any other private organization.
If one has joined NIIT, then its because something good has been done by the institute yesterday. You have to admit that. It is not an organization that makes a product...Its provides a service. A product like soap or tv can be attractively packaged and sold by just keeping it on the shelf. You cant do that for a service like education. There has to be human intervention. If this organization has survived 15+ years in the industry and keeping its top position, there has to be at least something worthwhile in their system. The good things first....the whole accounting procedure is pretty well automated. Any flaw like what spacejunk experienced could result from anything going wrong. Thats why IT professionals are required to create better systems that could perform better. But you expect the teacher to feed you with everything huh! So NIIT decided not to create courses that are faculty dependent but rather more student paced courses. Courses that are well created by professionals. All you as a student has to do is do your part first. And the necessity of the teacher comes when you have to be provided additional information or if you need clarrification. Now all you whiners, tell me how many times have you taken time to seriously read before you step in the class. I bet you...NONE. Cos you dont have the time!!! or rather you dont have the interest!!! Instead you prepare yourself to pay keen attention on things that dont work, so you can act smart!!! Isnt it ?
I cud go on...
