First flight's transit time calculator told me that I will get it on 19-Jan itself. I have sent a mail to First flight and CC'ed the same to flipkart. Flipkart replied in 5 minutes apologizing the delay but I guess they can't do anything on it now.Read More

I am sure you will not have to regret your decision. Forget the initial niggles and move on. I bought a Punto 2 months back and never had any issues till date (touchwood)

Adding on to that, I get good service and response from Kulathunkal motors, because I keep personal contacts ranging from service guys to service manager. I get preference over service, and the care given to the car is good. Another point is that I stay always with my car during service so as to mak...e sure everything goes fine with the car.
Oh yea, I have a Palio and a Punto and have no Tata vehicles. May be that's another factor.Read More

Seems like you've been sold lemon my friend. Always take the delivery only after inspecting the car before they proceed with Temp. Reg. And take delivery in plain daylight, I'd blame you also, because you never went and saw the car model you were planning to buy.

You might want to change the beginning of your comment as 'One of the problems with Indica...' instead of 'The only problem with Indica...' because there can't be an Indica in this world without any problems!
But your point is absolutely true. Indica has that taxi image which c...an't be changed now. This is one of the major reason why many people are reluctant to buy the vehicle. Most of the Indian cities are 'polluted' or 'invaded' by the Indicabs.Read More

From all these comments, it one point which really comes up is that Indica has long term quality issues. Which, I believe, is very true.
The author is somewhat wrong in saying that the Indica is always a better choice than the Swift!!! On what grounds?!! Is Indica a superior car than Swift in an...y aspect? Forget about the price, Indica is cheap.Read More

Looks are subjective, but the car sucks.
If you drive a 2 year old indica, it'll make you think how all the pieces of metal in the car are still miraculously working together as a car...!! The car comes cheap, it is cheap too.

Yes, you always hear this. Palio has bad mileage. Word of mouth. How many of 'em know for sure?
I own a Palio 1.2 NV ELX. My mileage figures goes like this:
City (Blr) : 13-15 kmpl (Ac 40-50%)
Highways: 18-20 Kmpl (Ac 80%)
I remember the TATA-Fiat marketing guy's offline (not at work) comm...ent about mileage of Xeta - 'Given the same driving style and traffic conditions in city, 1.2 gives slightly better FE figure than the Xeta')
Well, I have calculated my mileage using the traditional tankfull-tankfull method which gives accurate figures. Not to mention my vehicle is still to undergo second service, and after that FE is supposed to improve!
Secondly, All Palios doesn't use a really powerful engine. 1.2 uses a 72 bhp engine and 1.6 uses a powerful 100 bhp engine. Even the FE of the 100 bhp can come closer to 17-18 kmpl in highways. (Had driven it and got convinced myself)
Coming to spare parts... You must be knowing that TATA now sells Palios as well. So you can compare the spare parts prices of Palio Vs. Indica at your own TATA dealership. On a second thought, why do Palio need spare parts? The car is designed to run a lifetime without troubles! (touchwood!)Read More

My two cents:
Is it extreamly powerful? I don't think it is. Just calculate the power to weight ratio and you'll come to know. Of course it is peppy than the dumb diesel Indica. (Including the turbo avatar)
Out of all hatchbacks in India, I would... say only one car is powerful enough. It is none other than the Palio 1.6 sports with a whopping 100 Bhp under its hood. It is lighter than the Indica too. Not to mention the Palio S10 is just an overkill with its sporty gear ratios. Test drive a Palio 1.6 sports and then come back and drive Indica petrol and you'll be surprised to find the differences in
1) Power
2) Robustness / Overall build quality
3) Car control
4) Stability
5) Feeling of safety
6) Smoothness and surety of gearshifts
7) Fuel efficiency (I'm not joking! this 100 bhp engine gives you upto around 18 kmpl on highways!)
The car (Indica) is proven to be rugged.... Yes, may be for initial couple of years of ownership. I am yet to find a happy indica owner who owns the vehicle for more than 2 years, and has no long term quality issues with the car.
