You should compare apples to apples and not apples to pineapples. The 10D is a $1400 camera and the DMC-Fz 10 is $600 camera. The average consumer - is way better off purchasing an Olympus D-560 or their equivalents for a fifth to a third of the price. The sensor on the Canon 10D is the sam...e size as 35mm film - but it also costs an arm and a leg. It is still very expensive to make large size CCD's - and all of the consumer digital cameras are simply squeezing in more MPixels into the same area to keep costs low. If they change the CCD size - they also have to change the lens design BTW. Improvements in sensor technology fortunately do manage to keep the noise down (biggest problem with squeezing more pixels into the same area). The problem with too many MPixels is that you pay for 'nothing' - A 3.2 MP camera gives one super sharp 8X10 inch prints and highly acceptable 11X14 inch prints. Why pay for more MPixels? Even 2 MP is very good when printed 8X10. My review was specifically directed at the low end of the market - not to a Canon 10D user. Something within the reach of the average consumer in India. My assessment of the Sony and Panasonics were based on my personal experience with their cameras priced near equivalent - so the comparison is relevant and fair.(year to two year old models) and I fully stand by what I had to say. One fine day I will post images taken with a Sony and an equivalent sized/priced Olympus - the Sony costs $100 more but the pics were visibly inferior even to an untrained eye. The reason Sony's and Panasonics have to go to the Leica's of the world is because they lack expertise to make this one critical element themselves. HOWEVER - the Leica Lens used in these camera's are generally quite cheap - a regular Leica lens for a photographic camera costs many times the cost of the entire digital camera. People buy Sony's - because of the name factor and 'think' they are getting the best product. Same with the LeRead More

Yeah - that is what the acronym for FORD expands into. Fix Or Repair Daily. I just did a 1000 mile roundtrip - in the space of 24 hrs - driving practically non-stop each way - sometimes over mountain roads - in a rented FORD Focus. This is one of the worst rated cars in the US in terms of ...Read more

I love India - and it pleases me no end when an Infosys or a Wipro makes it to the billion-dollar club. However, one needs to look beyond the slick adverts and try to sum up the good and bad - to truly understand how well the country is doing. I'll deal with my views with some disjointed sent...Read more

Don't go by brand name alone. Iriver - makes nothing but devices that play back compressed music. And they know how to make them well. Their Ipod equivalents (Hard disk based players) also have very good reviews and I might get one myself one of these days. I own the RioVolt equivalent of the...Read more

There are far more flavors of digital cameras than there are film cameras nowadays. Many of the electronics giants such as Sony and Panasonic have also entered the game and using their reputation with TV's and telephones to sell you cameras. My first humble advice is - buy a camera from a cam...Read more

First of all - don't go by brandname. See my review of the N-60 camera to know what I mean. I would avoid the Nikon brand name unless you want to pay more and buy a poor quality product. In my experience, you should no longer waste money purchasing film based cameras. If you must buy a film c...Read more

Yeah - and I mean it - Do not buy a Nikon consumer level SLR or any of their point and shoot's. I own not this exact model, but an earlier model Nikon 6006. An acquaintance I met at a party (with an N60) has almost the same issues as I had with my camera - so my review seems to apply to the c...Read more

I cannot comment on the HMT Quartz watches since I have never owned them. But my first watch - an HMT Ajeet - mechanical with no day/date - purchased probably 20 or more yrs back, worked flawlessly till I graduated to a ''hippier'' casio watch after 8 yrs. That Casio rotted off in a mere 5 yrs i...Read more
