THanks Pankaj, I do remember at the time of purchasing an ex-bullet rider had purchased the bike and had also given clean references of this bike for long rides. That is what switched my decision in favor of Glx. I think what u did was a good idea, as it takes care of speeding and turning simult...aneously without the mental fear. In my case, I dont have that kind of company and have crossed the age of long adventure rides though I normally bike on the other side of 80 kmph. Maybe u can examine the other options now since Raptor 180 cc is also been announced a couple of days back at 66 K ex showroom Delhi. Both Karisma and Pulsar 220 carry that plastic peacock fairing which is expensive (around 15-20000) which make these bikes expensive. Plastic is also not insured in case of damage.Read More

yes, there is this rear wheel skidding when u brake suddenly at high speeds, gotta b careful when there is loose wet soil in the early part of the rains. now, there is Flame. Raptor 180 is making an entry. bajaj 135 is also sellilng well and looks like a good piece, tho i have not tried it out. ... speeds at high turns gotta be careful as the bike and rider sit tall and u land up with a higher center of gravity.Read More

general rule in the US is not to buy a ford after 3 years old, the nissan sunnys are more reliable. Fords are extremely good buys the first 3-4 years, but then they are designed to last this long, Beyond this remains how it is maintained and the owner's initiatives to make the best. A 7-year ol...d car meant there were too many things that could foul up, thank heavens u did not buy an Escorts Diesel. For 1 - 1.5 lakhs, u get good santros, balenos are also extremely good buys in the second hand market. check out the old city hondas and newer maruti esteems. of course, take a trusted garage mechanic along and pay him 150 bucks for every car he rates. it is well worth the investment.Read More

yes, i made the purchase based on a feedback from an ex-bullet salesguy who drives long. his feedback after 1500 kms was really good, also taking into account he had made a couple of long 150 km drives mumbai dahanu sector. The bike is a bit heavy, so winds dont draw u down. mine is two years old..., but still looks new, the paints and plastics have held on.Read More

yeah, many bikes out there in the market and most are good. My pet is the Gladiator, but I went for TVS for reasons stated, I didn't want a fifth cog due to mumbai traffic, as it means one down and four up shift movements. Bajaj Discover and the Dtsi technology with its big reach generally blew t...he market away. I like the Bajaj 135 but it came after I made the purchase.Read More

I have the Alloy wheels version, with self starter, disk brake version the last two years, but not had adequate occasions to drive, so to that extent the less than 10, 000 km underscores the effect. I think with the thing being around for some, I can provide good feedback and let all know why...Read more

thanks for your review alert. I liked your review and I would watch this movie, I guess this thing may never get released in India so I will have to look out for the CDs. Mickey Rourkey is a good actor, so I would look out for the movie only for the cast and your interpretation of the cast. SlumD...og is not my kinda movie, I mean to me the only reason to watch it is it has Indians, and Anil Kapoor and it is potential Oscar Winner, which I hope it does pick up. But then, even Kramer v/s Kramer is a Oscar winner and not one of the most watchable movies for most regular Hollywood watchers. Do keep writing and sending alerts, I would look forward to the reviews and the movies AlexRead More

boss, I keep writign on this site under comments and one thing that is common which i always write is 1. Don't buy effed up indian made services claiming MNC quality at india costs. they are price warriors but actually chor elements whether they sell PCs or flats or TCs. 2. Every time u fall... a sucker for a product that normally claims 50,000 rs. for a good priced product, and u try to save 5000, u land up with zero service, the operator making a quick disappearance, and yourself parted with 45,000 Insist on quality, buy quality, pay for that a bit extra, and enjoy your trip. And for heavens sake dont go for these economy tours packages that resemble a government sponsored Haj tour instead of a good vacation. Third: Jahan jaana hai - go in style, pay in style, live life king size. Vacations come once in two years, please dont spoil ur experience going with cheap operators for a few bucks. They will ALWAYS CHEAT you ! Their ads are meant to attract and cheat people who want to save better. No point travelling like paresh rawal in hera pheri saving on pizza's :-).Read More

I warned a friend of mine in Goa not to go in to TIP. She still did - now we continue to talk by good ole telephones only. Plans to be gainfully employed with a prospective employer on commission basis by doing work from home after ivnesting in a machine at home has all come to naught. If ever...y Tata Indicom subscriber pays me 15% margin money and I tell him not to go for this service, and still does, and writes on this site, I will be the richest man in India - not counting those whose wealth grows or goes down based on stock market. Reliance Broadband is pretty good though I had teething problems in month of July - August, but this was more due to rooftop repairs being done by neighbors and the company not able to install their service box in a protected area away from the rains. Just waiting for a couple of months more before going for bigger bandwidth, and installing components on PC to exploit this bandwidth and wider range of services for streaming and communicationsRead More

lodge an FIR, return the bike, recover full money and buy some other product from some other company. Scooties in this range are meant to promote a safe commute for ladies, as public transport is hell in most cities, and no self-respecting woman needs to be jostled by funny rural immigrants with hoo...ligan cultures in most city buses. If anyone got a problem on second part of this statement, i wish their sister gets teleported onto a DTC bus and enjoy the democratic rights of these hooligans. See if Kinetic can solve the problem or this was only to do with this particular piece.Read More

Both Pulsar and karizma dont give u much to differentiate between each other, but Pulsar 220 is modern, has great looks, and its digital displays, great tyres make it a youngster's favorite. I got this neighbor with a 220 - these two guys shared the cost between the two so that way, works out econom...ical. Maybe 2-3 responsible Pulsar 150 owners can share the cost and have fun with a good 220 in your free time when u want speed, or want to take ur dates around, works out better than one guy working out EMIs - a 90,000 plus is a bit of a bomb to shell out for a bike, especially with iPhones and Blackberrys and high -end nokias and sleek wireless laptops being other temptations. Bajaj has done serious good work around Pulsar 220, though the 200 came out a disappointment, most early buyers had quality issues, possibly the younger sibling was not adequately road tested in their hurry to fill a market segment. Me - I got a Victor 125 Vti Glx as in Mumbai traffic, a four-gear is better and being a tall guy with 80 kilos, this one serve me better than squatting on something with my knees wide apart :-). The fuel tank gives good capacity - 2 liters extra and has the Pulsar like tank. With alloy wheels, self-starter, it was a good buy 18 months back, gives around 55-60, picks up to 90-95 kmph though I rarely stretch beyond 80-85. Nice band-width or its speed comfort zone i find is 70-80. Good reliable guy, but not really meant for doing skittish maneovres in traffic likes its other sibling TVS Edge (was called The Cutter in earlier ad promos). Yamaha reviews on its latest in the motorbike magazines are great - pricing too appears to be promising. With a earphone inside your helmet to listen to music or take calls, u become the new Complete Definitely Male - Shove that baby feed holding Raymond Head-Waiter Complete aside, only they wear suits in India now. :-) AlexRead More

good ones yaar - many are my personal favorites and part of my portfoilo. Eric Clapton has been a good one and always gets me transfixed when he i...s around. Check out History Channel on TV, sometimes they pick up most of these listed groups and give a neat 1-2 hour program mix. I will need a team of cheer girls to cheer this one. It is a nice fun review man. India is a song and dance nation - only a matter of time before we start exporting our brand of cheerleaders. Our songs and dances sell in Africa - ME - SEAsia - even Japan, and certain sections of UK - Bhangra POP or ...Rock. Bhangra beats in full costume are aggressive, many would recall the cartoon sardar who used to come at the bottom of the screen at a boundary / six during TV commentaries on a particular channel.Read More

Indians and India infrastructure are not ready for hi-tech hybrid cars. The extra high price in this case is one real deterrent. Secondly, we simply dont have the culture. People at one level would go for LNG/CNG - petrol as their hybrid options. The top end goes for status, speed and luxury, ...life-style statements for vehicles.Read More

nice review and extremely good bike. My point on this only this. 1. Pricing and SERVICE - the YAMAHA CRM. It has always sucked. 2. In Mumbai where I stay, the closest Yamaha station is 3 km away, and they do not keep exclusive yamaha bikes only, The one who does is 7 kilometers away. 3. The...re are 3 exclusive pulsar dealers across the road who also vend plenty of 220 bikes as well, with attached servicing centers 4. Three yamaha dealers in the neighborhood shut down for good. All of them had rural or semi-rural kinds of guys manning stations, unlike Hero Honda - HMSI stations. 4. I am spending on a 1 lakh bike for exclusivity, as no way can one run at bike at expected 140 kmph for more than 3 seconds, for a 60 kg rider, with his head tucked in - not in blessed Mumbai, and certainly not in 21st century !!! The point is when I am expecting to spend 1 lakh on a classy bike, I invest 20,000 of this for some expected level of service which I can get from competing bikes in this segment i.e. Pulsar and Karisma. At least Pulsar invested in something called ProBiking. Yamaha India - This is your call on this ... YOU GOTTA WORK ON THIS !!! Mouthshut has given the product a thums-up AlexRead More

This bike is a new segment, away from the kind of 'water drop running a mile' kind of bikes, which many of us are used to seeing and riding on. Wonder which silly personality mentioned wear and tear of tyres, as these bikes are meant for handling, speed and control, and are used and designed by make...rs who run their bikes 30-40 laps at 200 kmph on speed tracks. Do keep writing more frequently. Will have to watch the Bajaj space in the meantime, as they are the only others who are trying to redefine Indian expectations. HeroHonda is merely transfering technology on designer looks and making money, TVS is slow with low risk-taking ability and in a competitive market, not much a Number Three can make except retaining a market share.Read More

sell that bike - ride the loss and go for something else. Could be a bad piece,or a bad dealer, but useful to go the consumer court and see what can come out of it, maybe u can recover some cost. Compared to the Discover, the XCD is a low priced bike with 'fancy looking' features all at the pri...ce of a 100cc bike. Obviously in a market environment, yu would be buying a compromised product. This rule applies everywhere - credit cards, mobile phones, tv sets, lap-tops. the exception is this - in case of lap-tops / bikes, you save 3000 bucks and kiss the rest of the 45 thousand bye bye ! So be careful of price 'warrior' products and MNC brand pieces at Indian prices. jab tak jaan hai - we live and learn. Have found that www.moneycontrol.com consumer health also does not attend to complains and the rest - India mein rehena hai to sambhal ke rehena ! Even the son of expatriate Adobe chief got picked up and no one knows on what conditions he was freed. Till then, we be on good side and be good citizens by finishing each such article with a Jai Hind. Baki - if yu are the son of someone who has a coterie of mercs and ambassadors every time u visit town - I would love to be associated with you.
