I .. ..would tend to attribute this to our conditioning (middle class conditioning rather) where the parents are just supposed to be selfless mute angels who propel themselves beyond human frailties and weaker emotions by sacrificing till they drop dead doing so! One as a child just isn’t tuned... to handle their parent’s emotional needs and the occasional human weakness and insecurity. How many of us can handle our parents’ tears after all? I can’t! Its only after becoming a father myself a few years ago and into my 30s that I now know what they have and are going through in life. But its still hard to be there for them in the way they perhaps would be wanting me to. Ironic..parents continue to be parents till they breathe their last ...the providers, the supporters..even when needing it themselves the most... The.. ..problem lies in the double edged nature of law that is out there. Use and misuse. While some instances are obvious cases of 'trespassing', and we would generally question the frustrating process of bringing the culprits to justice, others raise sufficient doubts in the mind to actually justi...fy the so called 'law' - like malicious accusations for money, publicity or fornication being termed rape by a consenting woman when the things go sour between the two. Well.. ..there's no rule either way. But I think the virtual bonding mostly carries on when virtual acquaintances meet in the real world (if they haven't been lying through their teeth all the while that is :P). I so know.. I know how I dragged myself to class in the final years at the university and how I struggled hard to stay awake at the back benches and how I wish that someone would stuff a big sock in those big yapping mouths of those professors. I just couldn't convince myself to study for anothe...r few years after the university because of the sheer boredom from academics. I both regret and am content about my decision sometimes.
