Just saw a news item claiming adulterated potatoes in market. Potatoes are being dusted with chemical or cement to make them look like better variety and are sold on double the price..

Am just wondering if we have a government body that checks these things and punishes them suitably.

I thought there existed government inspectors or officials who would frequently check adulteration in our food items like Dal, and vegetables and take those to task who are involved. I am sure such a body exists but the only difference is that they might be getting hefty money from these illegal people as bribe.


(Anyways I usually avoid potatoes ..... )

First-year students at Med School were receiving their first anatomy class with a real dead human body.

They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet.

The professor started the class by telling them, "In medicine, it is necessary to have two important qualities as a doctor The first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving the human body."

For example, the Professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the corpse, withdrew it and stuck it in his mouth. "Go ahead and do the same thing," he told his students.

The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes, but eventually took turns sticking a finger in the butt of the dead body and sucking on it.

When everyone finished, the Professor looked at them and told them, "The second most important quality is observation. I stuck my middle finger in and sucked on my index finger.

"Now learn to pay attention."

With crude oil price dropping below 90$ a barrel when can we expect the change to reflect in our petrol prices... Whenever there is raise it takes effect very soon. While Now that we are expecting that the crude price may fall further its high time the government reduces the prices and not wait untill before election.

Can't we have something like we do for gold/silver prices that changes daily based on market rate. If similar thing is done to petrol/diesel that would be really helpful

I am planning to get rid of my Santro Xing (2003) and get myself a SUV. Not that my car is in bad shape but I surely feel the need of a more rugged car while I go long drives. I usually prefer to drive when the distance to be going is upto 500 Kms. If it is a hilly journey I am sure the need of power and easy manuevarablity does matter and on the other hand if its plains the need for space and the power does matter.

The one most irritating problems with the small cars is their low ground clearence. Even a small bump in your way could hit your car in its belly.

Any idea on how much old santro should fetch me (Run 45000 Kms) and suggestions as to which SUV I should go for.. My budget is a limited one

My kitchen has a lot of Roaches. Roaming all over and a few manage to get into my refrigerator too...

We have been using Hit daily but even though a lot of them die.. I could still see smaller ones come out at night.

Any suggestions ... ?

Considering the fact that the Internet has been here now for nearly 25 years.

Have you ever thought how life has changed with the advent of Internet.

Around 80s only a few would have been aware of internet , web browsing and emails. But now one cannot imagine a day with out it. Most of us no matter in whatever profession spend a good amount of time browsing, searching, Gaming... blogging.

Thinking about the wide array of activities now one can do in the internet, It really amazes to think that there is no limitation to age, sex, religion, country. This is the single most thing loved by all irrespective of anything. Internet provides a solution to lot of things which we did manually before..

This is a never ending list

Its now time to ponder what I cant do with Internet.

I cannot remember when last I would received a post card or inland letter or an envelope to inform of a news from a distant relatives marriage or a baby born or an admission notice or an interview call or an job appointment. The email the answer to all these woes. Telecommunication is still being a supplement to the internet but it would not be long when even phone lines and mobiles will be eradicated and only the Internet will survive.

But this brings one scary nightmare what if one day something drastic happens and the internet collapses. What will happen to all those valuable information I have stored over the internet. Those documents, photographs.... Can't imagine one day with out the internet what if some one sabotages the whole net and we would be again dragged to the primitive ages...

Passive smoking should be causing more harm in Indian than in any other country owing to its population and the crowd in any public place.

Smoking might be a very soothing thing for the person who smokes but it should be also considered how irritating it could be to those who do not.. If someone feels otherwise do ask how it feels to your wife or children or any other non smoking family member.

In public places like railway station , Bus stop, hospitals or any other place where we find large number of people it is really a annoyance for those who do not smoke. With laws it would be easy for the people who dislike this to raise an objection and those who is prohibiting should be obliging or pay the fine.

Prohibiting smoking in train was a great move earlier ... with no rules it would have been hard for those who would like to protest such people who did it. It was good to see people rush to the area in between two compartments or near the door to smoke. Now with more restrictions that allow one to smoke only in home or Road.

Smoking at home would not be an easy tasks for
1. Those who do it with out the knowledge of their family members
2. One who have kids or elders at home who can be put to more risk by this.

Its for sure that there would be some reduction in number of people smoking if not atleast the number of cigarettes smoked a day
