Hi sk1690in and Avinash, Very interesting, i can reply to you both in one go. I have Test driven Zen Estilo about a year back. I had this feedback that its gear shift was with a flimsy feel. But I did not notice much to that effect. I tokk it to 120Kph+, but tyhe car was quite stable in straight dr...ive. May be my alto is old, but it wobles after 100 even after fresh alignments and balancing. The base line is that Estilo is more stylish wagon-R, with common engine and platform. Avi, alto has got higher vibrations than wagon-R and zen, due to three cylinder configuration. I find wagon-R very good as sometimes it is really difficult to tell whether the engine is running or not. And as I said Zen E got the same engine. On the lighter side, sometimes loud music also causes a shaken blur in the rear view mirror. And you are spot on about alto even my LX handling like a bike. Astar has got bigger wheels, so steering effort would be higher, though powersteering might take care of that. sk, alto has got the lowest cost of ownership. But if you care for power and are ready to trade part of fuel economy for that, you could consider Estilo. Though I personally feel Estilo is a girls' car, with its colours and styling.Read More

Avinash, Thanks for the comment. Maruti cars come with very low costs of ownership. And alto is the one with the lowest. you can also consider A star. It has got big wheels, stylish shape, decent power and hype of a great mileage. It is tight at back seats and in the boot, though. Over the frugal ...car will be a winner, if they are a bit careful in pricing. all the best.Read More

1WORD, I am sorry for such a late reply to your comment. Thanks for your comment. In case your purchase is still open, you have the option of A star with exceptional mileage claims. Small cars are getting 'big' which is good.

Dear abcdparisgreen, Thanks. I too have been in this decision, while deciding for a relative. The first difference between these two is the maker and after sales. Maruti dealers w/s are better to deal and more polite. Then, Indica components have continuously being under evolution and not as lo...ng lasting as the establisged design for Alto. Japanese quality control has something to do with is. As you said Indica is spacious and powered. That is it. After this everything is in Alto's favour for your requirements. You will have a tension free ownership experience. Do remeber to get a teflon coat, the car remains shining forever. Rajeev Read More

Hi sk1960in, Thanks for the comment. I have added something on maintenance. WagonR has got the factor of Roominess and higher power in its favour. But driving is a bit uncomfortable due to the awkward positioning of race pedal and other two as well. You cannot rest your heal on the floor, with ...toes on the pedal. It has got good acceleration in higher gears, but is low on milage. It is costlier as well by about 50K. Read More

Peethambaran, At 6'11', you might give Khali some serious complex. You might as well find it tricky to fit in the small car. Braking is assisted with 6' disc at front. One should never put braking to test as it might result in the vehicle at the rear hitting you, or even your car overturning. ... For a safe and sane driver braking is more than effective. Moreover, for emergency braking, the shape of car (height of CG) matters also. From braking and cornering point of view, the car is superb. When I drove in a WagnR through the corners at equal speeds, I felt like toppling. I hope soon you will get well and be taking you car out, but I guess you will have to pull the driver seat back a bit. Drive Safe RajeevRead More

Which Charecter is Jhumpa? I was trying to figure out while watching the movie, whether the aithor was in there one of the characters. I zeroed in on Moushumi for the dramatic entry, rentry and of course exit from the plot. And that is true, as I just found out.

Dear Sachin, Thanks. Mira Nair did a great job in turning the novel into a superb motion picture. No wonder it was releasd by 20th Century Fox. Somehow I cannot relate much with the immgrant angst, but the father son relationship was what struck a chord.

I happened to watch The Namesake the last night on TV. I must confess that it drove me to tears. I had already watched poignant defeat of BRC in the hands of KEP. Coming to the movie, it is a masterpiece, by all accounts. It latches on to you visually and auditorily - the Calcutta of 70s is cover...Read more
