I have taken Birla Sunlife insurance, paid premium regularly for 3 years.
The insurance people told me to wait for 2 more years, now they are charging Rs 20, 000 to exit. Also the value of Investment is Rs 30, 000 less than what I have Invested.

@sandipdas- call customer care every week, I fnally got my premium back after more than 2 months of daily contact, they make you run around everywhere, they will try to convince you to buy through their banks investments agents who will try to sell you ULIP, refuse it, also they will tell you to go ...for Term plan through agent which will be 100% more cost for same cover.Read More

Same problem, ICICI prud underwriters messed up with my DOB and put wrong DOB, cancelled the policy, fortunately got my money back, advice you to avoid ICICI Prudential i protect.

@Emptor- I have encountered a lot of good help and good things in Kolkata, but the above situations are facts that I have faced, instead of trying to pretend these situations do not exist, I think it's time to put on our thinking caps and think ways we can improve Kolkata, let's remember that Kolkat...a's development or lack of development affects east indian states like Orissa, Bihar as well as Northeastern states. Also, let's not benchmark ourselves against other indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai etc and benchmark ourselves against global cities. Kolkata is the city of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Rabindranath Tagore etc, we the public should spread moral principle among people, fight against corruption and greed by some of the businessmen and politicians. We should not like away at the dirth, filth and poverty of Kolkata and pretend is not there, the crazy traffic without rules, something should be done to improve this situation. We can first try to change ourselves, and then try to follow the systems or improve the system and not think of looking for loopholes but look for overall development.Read More

@ Partha - I am just sharing my bad experience in the expectation that others would not go through the same pain that I went, I have nothing against Bajaj Allianz but as stated above, my personal feeling is that you can get better insurance amount through term insurance, yes the premium paid through... term cannot be recovered but If I had invested in term plan + Mutual fund, it would give me much better return, only thing would be I would be paying less overhead charges and commissions.Read More
