I agree with the previous reader's assessment of Brown's character development--she writes women better than she writes men. I stopped reading Brown's novels a long time ago because her plots are too silly, and the mothers too-often put their babies in life-threatening situations, such as placin...Read more

The review was written well, but the ideas of the writer are in essence asking the novel's author from 1936 to conform to the ways of thinking of 2000+. The context must be considered, and the anti-slavery sentiment, while present at that time, hadn't evolved to where it is today. This was rated low...er by me to perhaps push the review a little further down the page. Be glad things are changing, even if they aren't changing fast enough. The book serves as an example of something you want to change, but at the time it was published, it was viewed differently than you see it, enough so that it won the Pulitzer Prize.Read More

I'm answering this request for a review because I just recently recommended this book to my daughter to read. She is almost 15 and is a voracious reader, everything from Shakespeare's MacBeth and Rowling's Harry Potter (vol. 5) to Peter George's Dr. Strangelove in the last couple of months alone...Read more

I shopped around for a number of features when I bought this computer just over two years ago. I wanted something that I could expand (extra hard drives, extra devices, cameras, and the possibility of new equipment not yet out). This has 7 USB plugs, a firewire, an extra serial port, and the usu...Read more

I finished reading this book after being told about it last summer (I saw first mention of it here at MouthShut from member Brimshade). It's pretty awful, despite the earlier reviewer's enthusiasm. The story: A married woman has an affair with a married man, and the entire novel is spent with th...Read more

I read the new book. I know the background of this novel. It's a nasty book and I'm glad to see that the publisher is doing nothing to promote it.
