Reviewed Bluff Master - Bollywood

Oct 09, 2006 05:54 PM 3897 Views

Review was first published in cinema.com.my but it's my review still. After the previously dismal outing of “Kuch Naa Kaho”, the pairing of director Rohan Sippy and leading man Abhishek Bachchan most certainly got it right this time. “Bluffmaster” is a blast to watch and Abhishek proves yet a...Read more

You feel that reading the book enlightened you on the life of the geisha's when that is exactly the problem - the book was not an accurate depiction of what the geisha profession is about. We're suppose to feel enlightened but I ended up feeling cheated by the author's choice of sensationalising t...he book.Read More

I , for one, am a big Aamir fan and he has yet to disappoint. With 'Fanaa' I was completely bowled over by this man's performance and what I want to know is why oh why had no one paired him up with Kajol before this?? What was the movie about Zooni is a blind Kashmiri girl who goes on a tr...Read more

Hello Jodi, thanks for your comment and I understand your point of view as well. Maybe I should clarify as to what I meant by what did not happen in the book. Yes, Chiyo was sold into prostitution but when they were taken away from their family they were not dragged like cattle in the rain and he...rded onto the cart. And it was thanks to Golden, Mineko Iwasaki received death threats and people continuously misrepresent the geisha profession. What I found laughable was not the fact that the actors were Korean and Chinese but more on the way they spoke sometimes in English and sometimes in Japanese. Why not just all in English then? The way language was used in the movie does not make sense. I admire the fact that you can keep in mind the book was 'just a story' but how many people can you sincerely say will bear the same idea? Not enough people will. That's for sure. Still, thank you for your comment and I appreciate you taking your time to read my review. Best regards AviendhaRead More

I have had the personal privilage of having met all three actresses in person over several occasion and I for one can say that i'm a big fan of Gong Li. You should see some of her other works like 2046 fro example. She's a gorgeous actress and Michelle Yeoh is quite exceptional herself. Ziyi, on... the other hand, never seem to struck my fancy. I personally did not like this movie but I do agree that it was beautiful to watch even though much of the so called 'japanese' culture is grossly wrong.Read More

Hollywood's biggest sin in many parts, at least to my opinion, is its complete inability to remain accurate to a story over the capability of sensationalizing it. An attribute so grossly apparent in ''Memoirs Of A Geisha'' that by the time the movie ended I felt sick. Here is a movie that has be...Read more

In Malaysia, the only way for a Hindi movie to be a hit is for it to have Shah Rukh Khan in it. I regret that fact because that would mean that a majority of the Malaysian viewers would miss out in good films that releases here. After the surprisingly sensitive Parineeta, comes Yakeen. Released ...Read more
