Never recommend Skoda myself, their initial ploy is to fool people into buying then trap them into massive service costs by suspending repairs/replacements till warranty runs out (which is 1 year max compared to 3 years for Hyundai). If this initial costs of repair is anything to go by consider sell...ing the product a year hence.Read More

Skoda is a worthless junk brand like its sister VW. Overrated to the core and its visible in actually thousands of complaints and huge loss of money running to 6 figures. Sell it asap as this car seems to be a lemon.

## The Waste Land (Themes) ##

Hmm Again this blog has been partly inspired from a UPenn article Dated Jan 3 2011, this Blog has been copied and edited exactly 1 year later on Jan 2 2012. Resources and similarities to many lines can be found at http://call-for-papers.sas.upenn.edu/node/39745. Its clear that MS has become a forum ...of little originality.Read More

Sherin Balachandran - an Avoidable Architect in Bangalore

Apr 04, 2013 01:24 PM

Hi Its quite a common con-job architects do that is very similar to this. They have to be instructed very clearly at the beginning with plans and construction details listed to the last square inch on paper. If no they just agree to any budget initially just to get the order then under-deliver and t...hen they act like they are the boss. This can be very risky at times because a few even make homes with poor stuctural integrity. Do get the structure re-checked by a civil engg.Read More

Very humourously written. I know very well to keep off bad movies and the whole cast+director are famed for their horrible script and acting minus Paresh Rawal.

Well, this is very typical of our desi sarkari karamchariyon. They look at us like we're a waste of time and we have no business bringing our unworthy self there. They lash out at us for no fault at all and I've been given this treatment in literally every govern-mint office and I would leave but no...t before giving them a piece of my mind as a tax paying citizen. You really seem cheesed off though, just dont look back at them - there are better banks on offerRead More

Care to have written this review even shorter? On top of that you write 'will be good movie?' Tentative reviews must be banned from MS @Management

I'm guessing you aren't the traditional Apple fan as they defend all the products vehemently :p Good review, my better half is a Sony fan so I'm relieved for that. Yes I always felt Apple's prices pinched the pocket far too much. I dont know what else to add as your 2nd last para pretty much says it... all. My friend has a Macbook and to repair its cracked trackpad and magnetic charger it cost almost 11k. Even within the iTunes ecosystem transferring has been made far too rigid and difficult.Read More

The Press/Media - New age bane of India & why you should keep off

Mar 25, 2013 08:22 AM (Updated Mar 25, 2013 08:23 AM)

.. @sydbarett if just one person read it and found it to be of sense thats all I wanted. so thank you. Agreed such manipulation has been done at all stages all for personal benefits. Your example of writers A & B is very relevant as thats how the scheme of things work. True the word-of-mouth or ...viral campaign is a huge media propaganda and is part of the cartel I mentioned above although some members simply dont know they have been hoodwinked. Thank you for taking the time to read and the comment.Read More

I was born in 1985, yes Im not that old but I'm old enough to have been born in an era where the cusp divided the semi-tech age from the full blown tech age that was to follow. Seeing television in those days as a kid reminded me that we weren't very fussy about the programs. Doordarshan had a charm...Read more

How to kill a Brand

Mar 19, 2013 06:02 PM

Well I do understand your point but its less about ending a brand and more about the paradigm shift in general. For eg people in the mid 1900's of India would now say they miss the Grundig radio or Pioneer record player or bathing with all natural besan powder or rolling in a Hero cycle. Times chang...e whether we like it or not & the new products have resulted in revenue increase or else the company will not go with the idea. Me being rooted in operations/HR all I'm saying is though management do make mistakes, a majority are carefully weighed out by focal customer research, plus advice by productions & cost accountants. Brand managers cannot do a thing without the others. My 2 centsRead More

How to kill a Brand

Mar 19, 2013 03:50 PM (Updated Mar 19, 2013 03:58 PM)

Hmm I wont term any of this as how to end a brand. It was merely circumstances occurring as a result of mass rejection or managerial decisions in view of populist trends. Let me clarify - 1) Fiama di Wills wasnt made for the rural mass, if they do purchase its coincidental. Its made for the city fol...k who can identify with its positioning. A name is just a name, but a fancy name is how such people are attacted into paying say a 40-50% premium for the brand. Simple. 2 & 3) Unilever is following their normal system, a paradigm shift in brand preference happens every decade or so. Most people just want a change while some don't. However its true that sales spike when a new product is introduced. Unilever is just sales progress intensive. 4) HM simply didn't have the talent or resources to make new cars. An Amby in todays context just wont work as it was a copy of a Morris Oxford that bit the dust and Amby was leading a decadent path since 15 years. 5) There was no such thing that happened - just that Onida's collaboration with Japan Video Corp (JVC) and BPL's with Sanyo came to an end as they didnt use Japanese technology wisely and made inferior products and hence could never be a Sony who came to India without collaboration. 6) Gold Spot & Thums Up were purchased by Coca Cola and it was a managerial decision by Parle Agro to sell stakes fearing competition and focus on its pulp extracted Frooti brand and others. Most of these decisions are in my view a result of regression-progression analysis with sales trend flows. Marketing's greatest trick is not giving the public what they want, but telling the public what they want. Business to most companies means proof by numbers. Whether they boost sales by posing a brand as "good old" or "all new" are carefully calculated risks.Read More

How much money is 'enough' money??

Mar 19, 2013 03:11 PM (Updated Mar 19, 2013 03:19 PM)

Well Glad to see a ''zara hatke'' blog for a change. I agree and being of the bourgeois (aam admi) myself I can simplify the answer in a brief statement. The media and peer influence. Progress in an economical way is seen as the only way to go, however much might be already in existence. The economy... of course exploits this by creating more margins in real-estate, merchandising, consumer goods and healthcare. When the expenditure is all-around high it further sets the wheel in motion for economic progress to be seen as natural or a societal rule. Taking out news & media & buying only what need beckons instead of ''upgrading'' or ''impulse purchasing'' will make people realise economics is far more simpler without the tricks of modern marketing.Read More
